Most privacy policies are very long and hard to understand. I want to make ours simple to understand and to the point. A Privacy Policy is just a document that explains how a website uses your data and how it is collected. This involves Cookies so there is no reason to have two separate policies.

Our website address is https://christianbibleverses.com. When we say we this is who we mean.

Data Collected With Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

The reason why we save your IP address when you make a comment is for our website’s safety. Hackers and spammers use the comment section of websites as a way to hurt the website. We need the ability to block these unwanted attacks via the IP address.

IP Addresses and Analytics

When you visit our website we collect data about your location and device type. We do this for several reasons. The first reason is that our website needs to know your device’s specifics to serve the proper sized images. We also track every type and location of each device to understand how people use our website. This is standard analytics and all websites do it.

We do not share your IP address with third parties. This is possible by using anonymous IP logging that changes your IP address while recording the network location. We use Google Analytics Software as well as Jetpack Analytics.

What are Cookies and how do they help?

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Your browser (Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer, etc.) stores small bits of code called cookies. Your browser probably has 100s of them currently stored. These pieces of data help create a personalized internet for you. Cookies tell websites and apps all kinds of information. Mostly, they are used to remember where and who you are so you can stay logged into accounts without having to log in every time. They are also heavily used for targeting advertisements.

Cookies are how you get an ad for volleyballs on Facebook after visiting a volleyball website or searching for volleyballs on a search engine. The search engine/website gave a cookie to your browser (Chrome etc.) that told Facebook you are interested in volleyballs (or whatever). We (and the rest of the internet) use cookies in the same way for advertising. I look at it like this; I’m going to have to see ads anyway so I might as well see ads that I might be interested in.

Our website gives your browser the same cookies as any other website. They basically say that you visited our website before. That’s about it.

You can disable cookies on your browser, but you will soon find out how much they actually help you navigate the web. Turning off cookies is different for each type of software so you will have to look up how to do it if this is something that interests you.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

WE ARE NOT responsible for any cookies or data collection that happens before or after you leave our website. Click on links at your own discretion and risk. We constantly scan our website for malware and we are confident in its safety though security threats are constantly evolving and there is always some risk to anyone who uses the internet for any reason.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. This only applies to people working for us because no one else is allowed to create an account. We share your cookies with third-party advertisement companies to personalize the ads. These cookies DO NOT have any personal data attached such as name, email address or IP address. This is a common practice as I stated before.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. You can contact us if you want this data erased but honestly, there isn’t really ever a need for that. The data literally just lets us know that you visited our website and made a comment. We also can not guarantee a comment can be deleted by us or anyone, ever. If you make a comment it is permanent so think about it before saying something rude or hateful.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service although we usually don’t do this. Our comments are checked for certain keywords and we use invisible-to-humans devices that weed out spambots. Your location and device type will be recorded by a third-party analytics company for our use only and this is done in a way that keeps you anonymous.
